Camp is sweeeet.

Tomorrow night we are going to Victoria!! I'm so excited about this as i don't feel like I've seen the 'real' Canada yet. The scenery at camp is very similar to N.Z, in fact, if it wasn't for the different accents and the fact that it took 34 hours to get here I would still think I'm in N.Z! Camp is really cool. Been getting to know a lot of the other staff, and I feel like I've been here for months already. The days are action packed, which makes then feel like about three days long instead of one! Yesterday I was down at the water front, being dragged on giant inflatables by a speed boat. And today got trained on archery/general sports around camp. I'm really looking forward to working on the activities, and having many more fun days in the sun to go.. Today for lunch there was..... TATOR TOTS and CASIDILLAS! Amazing... although after week 10 of them maybe i won't think so? Still can't get photos on here! need o find the techno guy and find out how. Anyway I had better go to the next session for today.. but first here is a list of all the cool stuff about camp/Canada so far... Yellow school buses, sun, Q-rock (the camp radio station,) deers, giant yum ice creams, tuck, 'Popsicles', maple leaves, flag poles, driving on the WRONG side, the sparkley water at night (although i haven't seen it at its best yet..its supposed to go white and glittery when you throw something in it,) getting a tan, the trucks, everything being in french as well as english.... and now i really have to go!! Bye bye xx

I'M HERE!!!!!

So I"M HERE! I'm sat at the computer wearing a Canadian flag and all red, because today is Canada day! The kiwis are more dressed up than the Canadians! The last couple of days have been hectic. The CIT program is really great, but quite full on, theres a lot of reading and we get an exam at the end of it! We've also been doing general training, like the water search (you have to dive along the bottom of the water front to hunt for bodies in an emergency.fun.)and also the challenge course. We got the try of the 'sky scraper' which is a 50ft (I think) swing. Next week we are going to be working in the challenge course so that will be fun. I keep getting mistaken for a camper (we have junior highs at the moment, 12-14) because they all look so old. Or maybe i still look 14, who knows but its pretty frustrating! Brian and Helen (and of course baby Maya) leave tomorrow. (Its been so great having them here. They've introduced us to lots of the main leadership so that we will be looked after, (and hopefully not end up in the dish pit the whole time!) It was quite a hot day today, so being in the water was fun -minus the crabs and jelly fish, and I wore shorts and t-shirt for the first time in.... years most likely. I have the accent down to a tee already, but nobody can yet pull off mine! Anyway I'd better get to the Canada day celebrations! Ciao xxx
